Introduction to PhoneBanking

With IndiMarin!

Democracy and our freedoms are on the ballot in 2024! We have the voters to win control of the House, Senate and Presidency, but success depends on turnout. We can do it - state by state, district by district, and voter by voter.

Conversations with voters are critical, and phonebanking is the most impactful form of voter outreach (after canvassing which is often not feasible based on location.)

IndiMarin's phonebanking team has been working in major elections for six years and has created a welcoming and supportive community for volunteers of all experience levels.

Discuss the 2021 goals

We did catch up with one another and then brainstorm possible focuses for 2021.

Please come prepared to share 1 or 2 topics/activitiesyou think EA should focus on and your reasons for your selection(s).We will go 'around the table’, hearing one suggestion from each person, untilwe have all the ideas listed.  Following brainstorming rules, we can build on theideas or ask questions for clarity.  No negative comments. We do not want toinhibit creativity. Then we will review the list, adding ideas/comments for our collective consideration.

If the group is ready, we will vote at the end of the meeting, selecting the3-4 focus areas we want to tackle.  (If not ready, I would ask that each membersend me their votes within a week, and I will publish them to the group.)

Write letters to young, Democratic leaning women in Ohio

Increase turnout in Ohio's August 8 special election

With Vote Forward, we are writing to young, Democratic-leaning women in Ohio to encourage them to vote in the August special election. Ohioans will be voting whether or not to raise the threshold required to pass citizen-led ballot measures from a simple majority to 60%—meaning a future measure could be blocked by a minority, even if it’s supported by a majority of Ohioans.

The possible impacts of this anti-democratic effort to raise the vote threshold for citizen-led constitutional amendments in Ohio—including on issues like abortion access and fair maps—are far-reaching.

TWW Holiday Social

Our holiday party will be a little different this year, in a spirit of compassion and generosity, and considering the virus. We will have drinks and nibbles in the backyard to be COVID-safe. As always, spouses, kids, and friends are welcome!

There is no need to bring food or drink; however, we ask people to bring toiletries for The Little Food Pantry (soap for dishes, clothes, hair, or body, plus toilet paper.) Holiday baking ingredients and spices are appreciated too. Feel free to bring cash or gift cards from stores to help the food insecure buy food and presents for the holidays. Please give as much as you can. The outside Free Food Pantry is feeding 50-100 families a week; many are Latino workers who live in Watsonville.
