CASS - It's a Hearing, Not a Telling

WHY

After COVID, more than half of CA assembly committees reverted to in-person testimony, limiting access to paid lobbyists in Sacramento and depriving regular Californians of their voice.

 

WHAT

Send emails to 8 committees hearing CASS priority bills asking them to reopen the channels to allow regular Californians to testify by phone during hearings.

I am writing to ask you to reconsider the decision of limiting the ability to comment to only those, who can afford to travel to Sacramento and sit in a committee hearing room for hours for the privilege of making a one-second public comment in support or opposition to a bill.
At a time when our democracy, our freedom of speech, and our freedom to vote are under threat across the nation, California should listen to the voices of ALL the people, not just the privileged few.
